WELCOME TO PRIMI PASSI
You want to travel. But somewhere between the meltdowns, the food limitations, the sensory sensitivities, and the sheer effort of daily life, it's hard to imagine how the child who can barely get through a school day could possibly leave the country.
Here's what most parents don't expect: everyday life doesn't necessarily transpose itself onto the road. At home, your child controls their environment because it's controllable. The same foods, the same routines, the same walls. Control feels necessary because everything is familiar enough to have expectations attached to it. But when everything is different, nothing is expected to be the same. And that's exactly the point.
Travel gives your child a permission slip. Try the curry. It doesn't mean you're eating it at home. Put your head underwater. It's just this pool, this trip. Novelty is its own kind of motivation. When the whole world is new, there's no demand to perform consistency.
Yes, you'll bring comfort items. You'll seek out a safe food when you need to. You'll keep the bedtime routine as an anchor. But the real anchor? That's you. The regulated nervous system in the room. The one who knows how to read them, support them, and help them work through it, wherever in the world you happen to be.
Primi Passi Autism Travel Coaching is here to help you get there. Let's take your first steps together.
